The 5-Minute Hearing TestHearing loss is not usually characterized by pain or physical discomfort. Because it is often a gradual, cumulative process, hearing loss can easily develop into a significant handicap before it is diagnosed.
The following hearing loss check may help you understand whether you have some degree of hearing loss. It is based on the Revised American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) five-minute hearing test. It is a means of quickly assessing if you possibly have a hearing loss. With respect to your hearing, please think about your experiences with each of the following WITHOUT the use of hearing aids or other devices designed to help you hear better. For each item, indicate the degree to which you agree or disagree (select one button for each item).
If you scored 10 or above, the American Academy of Otolaryngology (the world's largest organization of ENT specialists) recommends you seek the counsel of an ear specialist. You should have your hearing tested by an audiologist and you may benefit from amplification. Schedule an appointment at Hawkins Hearing Center:Online appointment scheduling by Genbook |
